Instruments of the Orchestra

There are four instrument sections of the orchestra and they are defined by how they produce their sound. The strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Many instruments exist that are not used in a traditional orchestra. Sometimes an orchestra piece calls for an unusual instrument to be included in a piece. Beethoven was a mover and a shaker in changing what a traditional orchestra would call for. For example, his 9th symphony called a chorus of singers which was a new idea.
String instruments have strings that can be plucked or stroked using a bow
There are two types of woodwind instruments: Flute and reed
All brass instruments need a mouthpiece, tubing and a bell in order to create pitches.
Percussion instruments include anything that can be shook, scraped or struck
