I have had an outstanding month so far! I feel hope and gratitude, and I'd like to share with you some of the experiences I've had in January.
We, OneLove, had our first residency show at the Heartland Bar last Thursday with openers Cider Provider and Ace Da Vinci. It was an intense opening to a monthly event that is strengthening relationships and community around a vision of a world united against oppression.
On the 12th, OneLove played a sold-out show at Uncommon Ground with me and Lin Boyle opening. I'm feeling so full of opportunities to share my music. I was joined on my set by my friend Bernard Runo on violin. He and I are playing in a quartet that will be performing with Belleisle at the "Hungry Brain" in February.
Cider Provider also released a new album, "YEAH!", In which I am playing on a few tracks. Check it out! I'm playing violin on tracks 1, 3, and 8. Listen to the whole thing; it's poignantly playful.
Despite #45 and everything that comes with him, I hope this message finds you filled with the kind of hope that motivates you. Whether that be at a rally, helping the homeless folks living in your neighborhood, or supporting black-owned businesses, please take action. Sometimes I feel halted by fear of imperfection; today I'm focusing on doing the next right thing even if I'm present in a clumsy way.
